CROMOINTERFERENCIA LITORAL

This collection was inspired in the “Cromointerferencia del Color Aditivo” which is an art piece created by Carlos Cruz Diez a Franco-Venezuelan artist who is considered one of the protagonists of the optical and kinetic art, and his research named him as one of the thinkers of color of the 20th century, most of his works deal with romantic events, and also they bring out color when people interact with his works. When he created this piece at the principal airport of Venezuela, he elaborated an art with a universal spirit in which he worked the idea of consolidating an image of economic stability and a new modernity just as Venezuela was at that time. These were years of democratic security, abundance, and the development of a new and impressive movement that was the oil industry, which by then was promoted by Carlos Andrés Pérez government.

It was the time of the “Venezuela Saudita“when the streets were full of monumental public art and a huge number of foreigners from different parts of the world decided to emigrate to Venezuela to start a better life taking advantage of the millions of opportunities and precious resources that the country offered them. But today this art has a different meaning from the one Cruz Diez wanted to give it at first; Now this work has become an emblematic symbol of the harsh Venezuelan emigration that has been occurring for several years til now.

I made this collection visualizing a new future for my country in which new opportunities will soon arrive, such as new airlines coming to this airport, and a huge economical and social improvement that brings with it modernity represented by the deconstruction outfit.  The fantasy outfit is a symbol of how the art of cruz diez together with the Venezuelans received with open arms all those immigrants who arrived at the time of the creation of the artwork.
All the pieces in this collection represent the hope, the change, the new beginnings, and the new opportunities that all Venezuelans want for our country...
